The New Jersey State High School Wrestling Championships To Return To Boardwalk Hall For The 2016 Tournament On March 4, 5 and 6

All-Session Tickets Go On Sale Friday, December 11 at Noon

As announced in June, New Jersey State High School Wrestling will return to Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall for their 2016-2018 Championship tournaments. In what has become tradition for the sport since 2002, the top high school wrestlers from throughout the state will make their way to Boardwalk Hall to compete in the 2016 New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) State Wrestling Championships on March 4, 5 and 6.

All-session tickets will be priced at $40 and will go on sale Friday, December 11 at noon through Ticketmaster.com, the Boardwalk Hall Box Office, Ticketmaster Outlets or by-phone at 800-745-3000.

This public on-sale will have a limit of 10 tickets per order. Single session reserved tickets will be priced at $10 and will go on sale on Friday, January 29 at noon.

Group sales for all-session tickets will also be available for orders consisting of a minimum of 11 tickets and a maximum of 50 tickets per order. A $3 service charge per ticket will be added to group sales purchases. Group tickets can be purchased by calling (609) 348-7023 or e-mailing aura_sanchez@comcastspectacor.com .

Senior citizens (65 and older), children (2-12) and students with a valid grade school or high school ID are eligible for a $2 ticket purchased starting Friday, March 4 which can be purchased through the weekend of the event. These discounts are only available at the Boardwalk Hall Box Office with a valid ID.

The competition begins at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 4, for the preliminaries and pre-quarter finals. On Saturday, March 5, the competition starts at 10 a.m. for the quarter-finals and wrestlebacks #1 and #2.  Following the morning session, Boardwalk Hall will clear the facility and re-open doors at 4 p.m. for the 5 p.m. evening session of the semi-finals and wrestlebacks #3 and #4.  On Sunday, March 6, competition begins at 10 a.m. for  wrestleback #5 and consolations, followed by the finals and awards ceremony at 2:00 p.m.  Doors open one hour prior to each session.

The tournament is the highlight of the year for New Jersey wrestlers.  The race for the championship titles begins with the district competitions on Friday, February 19 and Saturday, February 20 in each of the 14 weight classes (106 lbs, 113 lbs, 120 lbs, 126 lbs, 132 lbs, 138 lbs, 145 lbs, 152 lbs, 160 lbs, 170 lbs, 182 lbs, 195 lbs, 220 lbs, 285 lbs.) and is open to all New Jersey high schools who are members of the NJSIAA.  The competition heightens with the final regional competition on Wednesday, February 24, Friday, February 26, and Saturday, February 27. The season culminates with the State Championships in Atlantic City where the top wrestlers in each weight class of the eight regions will vie for the Championship Title.
