The New Jersey State High School Wrestling Championships To Return To Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall For 2016-2018 Tournaments

Since 2002, high school wrestlers in the state of New Jersey have trained and competed throughout the year with the hopes of making it to the State Championship finals in Atlantic City.  The tradition will continue for the next three years as New Jersey State High School Wrestling will return to Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall for their 2016-2018 Championship tournaments.

The tournament is the highlight of the year for the sport of wrestling and has become an eagerly anticipated ritual among wrestlers, their families, as well as the Atlantic City community. Hundreds of the top high school wrestlers from around the state will  continue to converge on Atlantic City to spend the weekend competing in the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) State Wrestling Championships at Boardwalk Hall.

“We would like to thank Steve Timko and the NJSIAA for bringing this large scale event back to Boardwalk Hall. We are looking forward to welcoming back the athletes,  their friends and families,  and wrestling fans to Atlantic City as they make the event such a great success,” said Spectra’s (formerly Global Spectrum) Fran Rodowicz, General Manager of Boardwalk Hall and the Atlantic City Convention Center. “We appreciate the support from John Palmieri and the CRDA, Meet AC, and the AC Sports Commission for working together to make Atlantic City a great host site for this event.”

“The Atlantic City Sports Commission is thrilled to welcome back the New Jersey State High School Wrestling Championships back to historic Boardwalk Hall for the next three years,” said Jim Wood, President and CEO of Meet AC. “The sports business in Atlantic City continues to grow, whether it’s a tournament or convention. We welcome the unique variety of sporting events and conventions that bring in executive directors and event managers from sports organizations around the country.”

The championship weekend tournament will feature the top wrestlers in each of the 14 weight classes of the eight regions as they vie for the Championship title.  For more information on the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association, visit www.njsiaa.org.
