This marks the first time in the league’s 44-year history that the championship will not include every conference team. With the new championship field format, competition will commence with the first round on Tuesday with two games each for both the men’s and women’s for a total of four contests, which is amended from the six total games that were played in the previous format dating back to 2014. First round games will put the No. 8 seed against the No. 9 seed and the No. 7 seed against the No. 10 seed.
